PARENT TESTIMONIALS

At YES, the work is not limited to the young adults.

Youth Empowerment Service does not just work with individuals.  Our work is family-oriented, as we believe in aligning the same training and learning objectives at home and at Centre. See what our parents say:

We are very grateful to YES for accepting Markhus to their program. The program provided a small group environment

that allowed Markhus to focus on developing his abilities and skills. The YES program includes a wide range of activities that provide Markhus exposure to the community, work situations and life skills.

Markhus very much enjoys their regular trips to the market to buy food or ingredients that they will cook for lunch. He enjoys working at VAC and meeting new friends. He looks forward to the Friday field trips and lunch outings with his YES friends where they explore new places in HK, visit museums, or play sports in a recreation centres.

The best thing about YES are the teachers and therapists that work with the kids. We very much appreciate the dedication and genuine concern they show to all the YES kids. Working with students with varying disabilities is very much a challenge. There is clearly a camaraderie that has developed between staff and students. Over the years that Markhus has been with YES, Markhus has definitely become more engaged and more expressive in his communication.  One of the best experiences for Markhus this year is the progressive art sessions that he did with Sunee.

We can never thank YES enough for what they have done for Markhus.

My daughter, Jessica has been enrolled in this program for more than 2 years. I am delighted to see that she is excited every morning

about going to the centre and thoroughly enjoys her time there.  The combination of small class size and life skills program is a perfect fit for her development.  I like the overall healthy, positive and friendly atmosphere the centre has. The entire staff is dedicated, caring and supportive.  I am happy to see that she has become more independent and confident.  I beleive that she will continue to make good progress at her own pace through YES’s elements and the individualised self-development goals set and work on for her.  Thank you everyone at YES.

The CONNECT Program has been a perfect way for our son to transition from the Learning Support Center at South Island School

and is providing the structured framework for him to thrive and mature while being independent and gaining valuable life and work skills.  Our son has been able to explore topics related to work values while linking to his own interests, skills and abilities.  Through short course work he has done training in coffee making, flower arrangement as well as weekly hands-on practical work experience.  All of this has fed his desire to be more independent, socialize with peers, join a soccer league and travel independently in Hong Kong.  Through the careful oversight of the CONNECT staff, we have all collaborated on goals and the choice of direction for our son.  This is an ideal program to help a young adult grow, mature and become self-aware in a structured and supportive setting after high school.

Our daughter loves attending CONNECT. She enjoys the company of the other trainees. The staff at CONNECT

are sensitive to the range of different abilities in their care and they are very supportive of the young person. The program is giving our daughter opportunities to think about and explore what she would like to do with her life.
